I opened the email to see it.
A hearty congratulations from the associate publisher of Chicken Soup for the Soul.
I squealed with delight!
Chicken Soup books have been around since 1993. Known for their lighthearted, feel-good stories, they have amassed quite a global readership base over the years.
A few years ago, a friend encouraged me to send in a story for one of Chicken Soup’s many book projects they have open on an annual basis.
I was familiar with Chicken Soup books but didn’t have the foggiest idea how to submit a story.
However, before going straight to their website to find out, I thought I’d quickly ask Google what my chances of success might look like.
“What is the likelihood of getting a story published in Chicken Soup for the Soul?”
Google’s answer: Improbable but not impossible.
I liked those odds.
The competition for selection in these highly sought-after books is stiff.
The “improbability” stems from the thousands of submissions Chicken Soup receives for every book project because they only select 101 stories for each book.
Which is what makes being chosen even sweeter.
My “Under Where?” story will make its debut in Chicken Soup for the Soul’s I Can’t Stop Laughing on April 28.
A humorous story about my husband, a toilet, and an unfortunate pair of BVD’s, Under Where? is a story sure to bring a chuckle to your day.
For me, it’s also a good reminder that, even when something might seem improbable, “…nothing is impossible with God.” (Luke 1:37; Matthew 19:26)
Maybe you’re facing something that feels improbable today.
Don’t let that hold you back. Ask the God of the impossible to help you.
It doesn’t matter what the situation may be. Just surrender it to Him, take a deep breath, and watch as the One Who placed every star in the sky works to make the improbable possible for you.
Until next time, Grace and Glory!
