God can do so much in just a year!
Last week, a “memory” popped up on my Facebook feed. It was of a blog post from a year ago called Annah’s God Story.
Annah’s story is a vulnerable expose of navigating a painful and perplexing season of life by faith.
It is a story of a woman’s deep longing for a child mingled with the heartache of remaining barren.
It is a story of searching for answers while navigating one discouraging outcome after another.
It is a story of desperately waiting on God while wrestling with daily doubts and fears.
It is also a story that is close to my heart because Annah is my daughter.
(One of the most painful things, as a parent, is to watch your child suffer and grieve knowing there is absolutely nothing you can do to help – other than continue to storm the gates of heaven.)
And, that is where we found ourselves a year ago.
Living in the wait.
Taking one day at a time.
Praying together. Crying together. Hoping together.
And then, just a few months after Annah’s story was posted, she learned that she was pregnant (after doctors had told her it was highly unlikely she’d ever be able to conceive)!
We were ecstatic!
After a challenging first trimester (filled with morning, noon, and night sickness – oh my!), she carried her healthy baby full-term.
Just a few weeks ago, she gave birth to the most beautiful little boy who has become the newest focal point of our family’s love and affection.
Amos has no idea yet that he is an answer to so many prayers.
But we do.
Someday he’ll hear the story, but for now, I share it with you to boldly proclaim the testimony of God’s great faithfulness and goodness!
He was moving when we couldn’t see it.
He was choreographing the timing even when we didn’t understand it.
He was working to answer our prayers when we couldn’t discern it.
He is, was, and forever will be faithful and good.
“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good,
For His steadfast love endures forever…
To Him who alone does great wonders,
For His steadfast love endures forever…
It is He who remembered us in our low estate,
For His steadfast love endures forever…”
(Psalm 136:1, 4, & 23 ESV)
Until next time, Grace and Glory!
