Recently, I was hanging out in the Detroit airport on a layover.
I am like a kid in a candy store when it comes to airports. My people watching meter goes off the charts and my eyes struggle to take in all the sights and movements in my environment.
In addition to this exciting sensory overload, there’s another fun thing I love about airports.
The moving sidewalk!
Have you even been on one? They are a game changer when it comes to walking!
The beauty of this genius invention is that it moves you forward faster than if you simply chose to continue walking on the regular flooring.
It almost makes walking effortless.
Sure, you can choose to stand still and let the moving sidewalk do all the work for you; however, most folks opt to continue walking. And, with the aid of the moving sidewalk, one’s journey from gate to gate is made so much easier!
Quite like our relationship with God.
Can we do life without God? Sure, but why would we when He makes the way for life to be so much smoother, better, and more fulfilling with Him?!
According to John 10:10, Jesus said He came to give us “life…in abundance (to the full, till it overflows).” (AMP)
I can’t help but think of the spiritual difference in my life between the moments when I’ve looked to do things on my own – apart from God – versus linking arms with my Savior and trusting that He has perfect knowledge, a better perspective, and a pure heart that always wants what’s best for me.
In those moments when I choose to believe that God is good; the He does love me; and that He will work everything out for the best, I feel like I’m on the moving sidewalk of life.
God’s doing the bulk of the work and helps make navigating my day nearly effortless for me.
Does it help if I cooperate? Of course! My participation expedites my faith journey!
So, what are you waiting for? Jump on God’s eternal moving sidewalk today and enjoy the ride!
“The way of the just is smooth; the path of the just You make level.” (Isaiah 26:7 NAB)
Until next time, Grace and Glory!
I give thanks to the Lord, for he knows our journey that we need to take before we do. This is beautiful assurance to trust in our Lord, and let God direct our steps.💞🙏
