I reached for my loofa and there he was – about the size of a mostly-dehydrated lime.  I have no earthly idea how he found his way into my shower, but there he was nonetheless.

The frog was as startled to see me as I was him!  We spent what seemed like an hour locked in a stare down while I tried to figure out how to nicely remove this little amphibian from my steamy environment and rehome him back outside.

My efforts in accomplishing this mission were comedic, to say the least.  I’m not one to just dive in and hold frogs with my bare hands so I immediately began combing my surrounding area for something to put him on or in.  I succeeded in finding a small open-ended box and, after several attempts to get him inside of it, finally got the frog perched on the edge of it and we began our pilgrimage to the front door.

Our journey was marked, however, with several escape attempts on the frog’s part and just as many capture attempts from me.  We finally arrived at the front door and, after giving furtive glances left and right to ensure no neighbor would witness my towel-clad form, I tossed the frog onto my front lawn.

As I headed back to my bathroom, I couldn’t help but marvel (and giggle) at the plight of the little frog and wonder HOW he made it into my shower?  Did he squeeze through a pipe or maybe hitch a ride in on my husband’s clothing after he’d been outside recently? 

Regardless of the “how”, it is clear that he was not where he belonged or where he was created to live and flourish.  

How many times has that been true of you and me?  We find ourselves out of our God-designed environment due to poor choices or wrong thinking on our part.

Proverbs 3: 5 & 6 gives this instruction, “With all your heart…trust the Lord and not your own judgement.  Always let Him lead you and He will clear the road for you to follow.” (CEV) 

“Our own judgement” gets us into a heap of trouble.  On our own we make terrible decisions and selfish choices that place us in positions we were never made to live or flourish, but when we trust the Lord with ALL our heart, He leads.  And, when He leads, He gives clarity, peace, wisdom, direction, help, and guidance…in other words, a “clear road for us to follow.”

Words of divine wisdom to keep us from winding up like the frog in my shower!
