Do you ever sit down to pray and just feel overwhelmed? There’s so many needs, hurts, and intense human suffering right now, that it can feel paralyzing. Where do you even begin?
Then, when you do find the words to pray, do you wonder if it even makes a difference? In a landscape as chaotic as we find ourselves in, how can your one prayer affect any change or bring steps towards peace and healing of people’s broken hearts and lives?
The answer lies with one of the smallest seeds known to man – the mustard seed. If placed in the palm of your hand, it is all but a speck, so small that it appears insignificant and ineffective. Yet, this small seed was referenced by Jesus in regards to the big impact faith can have when set in motion.
“…I tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will tell this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible…” (Matthew 17:20 & 21)
I’m sure you’d agree, moving mountains is no small task. Yet, Jesus described the smallest measure of faith (a mustard seed’s worth) as being able to do just that!
Right now, we are surrounded by a variety of figurative mountains:
~A global pandemic that continues to surge
~Social unrest that is tearing at the seams of our nation
~Local trials as the economic repercussions of this season impact loved ones
Feeling so small in the grand scheme of things, the temptation can be to remain silent. But, IF you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you can help move these mountains – with every prayer, big and small!
According to James, “The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much!” (5:16)
So, dear friend, pray. Now, more than ever, your mustard seed of faith in the midst of the crowd is needed!
Don’t dismiss praying about these “big things” because you’re just “one person”. God is sovereign and His ear is always open to the hearts and the cries of His children.
Your prayers are effective, meaningful, significant, and bend the ear of God to move, make change, save, heal, help, and restore!
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go put my mustard seed’s worth of faith into action!
Until next time, Grace and Glory!
Loved! “…I tell you, if you have faith the size of a mustard seed, you will tell this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible…” (Matthew 17:20 & 21)
What a great post of encouragement of not to give up on prayer. God is our father and he listens to us. These is why is important to communicate with him, and there’s no better way to do so than with a prayer.
In the word of God, 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 the Lord tells us to, “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
Thank you Kristen for such a beautiful post, sending lots of hugs and love to you! May God Bless you!
Completely agree, Yulma! Thank you for your kind feedback, hugs, and love. 😉
